Welcome aboard! We're David and Kathy Kane, recovering full-time 'cruisers'. Our 10 year'ish cruising adventure began in 2005 with a Beneteau First 405 sailed from Seattle to the South Pacific Islands via Mexico, Marquesas, Tuamotu, Tahiti, Bora Bora, Cooks Islands, Samoa(s), Tonga and New Zealand. In 2007 we explored Fiji and Vanuatu before selling the Beneteau in Australia in 2008. Jetting to New York we spent 2008 and 2009 sailing a PDQ36/39 catamaran to the Western Caribbean and back to Florida where it was sold in favor of our current boat LightSpeed. We bought the Atlantic 42 in Honduras sailed to Panama and Colombia and then back up to Belize to get married. Then it was a transit of the Panama canal for a honeymoon in Alaska. From Alaska we sailed back to Mexico and began our second crossing of the South Pacific in 2012. Our second time we picked up long stay visas for French Polynesia so we could go slow. Then after 6 months in FP we spent nearly three months in the Cooks before sailing to Samoa. In 2013 we embarked on an uncommon west to east sail back to the Cooks, Tuamotus, and Marquesas where we sat out the remainder of cyclone season. Then we spent another three months sailing FP before heading west to the Cooks, Samoa, Wallis and Futuna, spending 4 months in Fiji and then sailing to the Marshall Islands for a 6 month stay snorkeling pristine reef, kiting and enjoying uninhabited islands. Then to Aleutians, Kodiak and down the west coast toward San Francisco where we stopped for almost a year. Then south to San Diego for winter before sailing to the Pacific Northwest in the spring of 2016. We're now based in Friday Harbor, Washington and looking to trade our sails for soil and start an organic farm.
