Crescent CIty visit with Jimmy

Kathy, little Phoenix and Jimmy taking a swim on the lower Smith River near Crescent City, California. A huge thanks to Jimmy for being such a great host and helping us run endless errands around town taking us to the best spots on the Smith River and for the introduction to surfing legend Greg Noll.We helped Greg Noll (original big wave surfer and board shaper) sort out an Autopilot issue on his sport fishing boat. In return Greg gave us a bag full of fish and a signed copy of his book 'Greg Noll the art of the surf board'. Jimmy is practically part of the Noll family and also works a few days a week with Greg shaping classic Hawaian Koa wood surfboards... apparently the rage among surf board collectors. Very cool to see the board building shop and hear first hand stories from a living surf legend. We also had the opportunity to watch 'Riding Giants' a documentary of pioneers of surfing and the surfer lifestyle. http://www.gregnoll.com/

Jimmy and our sailor friend Nick (from Victoria, British Columbia).
Kathy and Phoenix (Jimmy's son) skip some rocks on the Smith River.
The 'Chart Room' on the harbor the best fish and chips in Crescent City.
