Likiep Atoll, Marshall Islands
Plan 'A' was to sail to Wotje today, but higher winds wild seas had quickly opting for plan 'B' and we pointed LightSpeed downwind ending up at Likiep around 5PM.
The anchorage is flat, calm and even protected from wind by large trees, it could be the best in the country. Lots of friendly kids swimming and yelling 'hello' and 'welcome to Likiep' as we anchored, despite a howling squall that provided a welcome wash down to a salt crusted boat after a 5nm bash from the pass to the anchorage in upto 40 knots of apparent wind.
Kiting looks very promising with a launch beach adjacent to the anchorage and 0.75nm unobstructed reef flat that's open to clean air from the east.
That's it for now.
