Friday Harbor Sunset
Kathy heading off to her 3 week business trip in Europe. The travel plan was slightly complicated. Dinghy into ferry dock, ferry to Sydney, British Columbia. Fly from Sydney to San Francisco. Fly to UK. Fly to Spain. The return trip will be similar.
Kathy heading back from town in the new to us AB 10UL dinghy with 9.9 Yamaha outboard.
Friday Harbor get pretty busy on summer weekends, Kenmore air landing just off Lightspeed's bow.
Enjoying the weekend at Spencer spit with a beach favorite log teeter totter.
Spencer spit state park on Lopez island... sharing the scenery with the local deer.
Dinghy and Lightspeed at Spencer spit, Lopez Island
Heading through Deception pass.
Sometimes things don't go perfect, like when the painter line for the SUP board gets tangled on the propeller.
And the SUP board gets snapped in half
Kathy, not looking happy as she looks in disbelief at the broken board.

Inflatable Dinghy... via Craigslist
June 1, 2006
Camano Island Driftwood Shores
We needed another inflatable dinghy, so I was on the hunt cruising Craigslist. It would be nice to buy new, but the AB inflatable RIB Dinghy I really like is almost $6000 and that's a bit rich for us right now.
Me: Where is the boat located?
Seller: Driftwood Shores.
Me: Cool. I'll sail my boat up and anchor and paddle in.
Seller: (probably thinking this is very strange). Humm, ok, what time do you think you'll be here?
Me: Later this afternoon at high tide.
Seller: Ok
Buying something as big as a 10' dinghy without a truck is sort of a challenge, so I was delighted to find a boat that was located at a beach house on Camano Island, all we'd need to do was sail up, paddle in on the SUP board and tow the dinghy back to the boat.
Small world that it is, the seller, Don, at Driftwood shores was just a few houses down from the in laws of my good friend Aaron Hollingbery. The sellers were really nice and we hope to meet up with them in the San Juans this summer.
Closing the dinghy deal on the beach.
Towing the new to us, AB 10UL dinghy back to Lightspeed. This is the ultralight model, so it weighs only 97 pounds. We purchased a new Yamaha 9.9 outboard, so now we are a two boat family. The Lehman 12 sailing dinghy and the AB and as weather allows the SUP board.
