The mast is removed while the boat is in the water and a rented boom truck pulls up to the dock and pulls the mast out of the boat and lays in on the dock. Once on the dock it goes on a cart to the mast yard for storage and work. I spent about a week in the gravel mast yard replacing every fastener and electrical wire. New wind interments, navigation lights, deck light and radar were installed as well as a metal track for the Trys'l ( a storm sail with independent track for raising) that required I drill, tap and install about 150 fasteners.
