Entering Straights of Juan de Fuca... back to home waters after 1833 days abroad.

September 7, 2010 2:30AM
Day 1833
Position: 48°23 N 124°34
Strait of Juan de Fuca
Miles year to date 6,158
Miles since day 1 32671

Just passed Neah Bay in very thick fog and carefully making our way down the Strait of Juan de Fuca. A fast run up the Washington coast in idyllic conditions including many hours flying the spinnaker in Southerly component winds with boat speed of 8-10 knots. Astoria to Neah Bay is about 161 nautical miles and we covered that distance in 20 hours for an average speed of of just over 8 knots. The new Yanmar 3ym30 engines we just installed in Astoria are running perfectly.

With a very experience crew aboard its been a delightful culmination to over 6,158 nautical miles sailed so far this year. It's great to be back in home waters after 1,833 days of world cruising and over 32,671 nautical miles of sailing in the North, Central and South Pacific as well as East Coast USA and Caribbean.
